Le sigh. I will really miss having fall weather. I’m sure, however, that I’ll be thrilled when it’s 60 in January. I’m pretty amused by what Austinities wear when the temp drops to a freezing 50 degrees. I mean, I guess if you don’t get many chances to wear that wool knee length peacoat and knit cap, you gotta whip it out when you can.

I have a love/hate relationship with fall. I love it because we usually get some nice days in there (and my bday but I hate it because it starts to get cold and I HATE being cold. This is not very new and its mostly Tommy’ fault cuz he has made me listen to it a bunch, but I think the Grizzly Bear’s Two Weeks is fall appropriate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjecYugTbIQ And yes..the video is pretty creepy.

i especially like the other lives song – perhaps because it is raining and i’ve been spending a lot of time in a rocking chair the last couple of days.

i don’t much listen to new music these days, so i lack suggestions. i guess that isn’t 100% true – i have been wishing for the new avett brothers cd, which i listened to on npr a while back, but then i saw it in starbucks the other day, and that made it, umm, much less attractive. so we’ll see. they are cousins of a family of girls that used to babysit me as a kid, so they feel kind of homey (unlike starbucks).

I realized it turns fall in Texas the day it goes straight from watermelons & corn everywhere to the hugest selection of heirloom squash at Central Market. My first fall, it was rather surreal. I was sweating my balls off, and they did it almost as soon as the clock struck twelve on September 1st.

Back in NYC when fall came I always listened to the complete Louis & Ella recordings…waiting eagerly when I could finally play “I’ve got my love to keep me warm” on repeat (not Louis & Ella, but you get the idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4K0HFHwYTg). Nothing gets me more excited for snow! Other than ACTUAL SNOW! (Sorry Henry…I know I have just offended your climate sensibilities)

liking the big pink. i just discovered a place to bury strangers, also liking them. i think a perfect song to loop in autumn is the remake of “just like heaven” by the watson twins.
