(extra)ordinary

resolution progress pants!

you guys I AM WEARING HEELS AT WORK TODAY.

specifically, i am wearing THESE heels:

i know, right?! the smoldering hotness!!!!!!

which is why i bought them, in spite of the precipitous heels. and also cos they were on mega sale! holla!!!

so i know everyone recommended that i start with a lower heel, and while i agree, i just couldn’t pass up these shoes. esp. cos “honoring my resolution” is pretty much a guilt-free way to spend money (good to note for future resolutions).

anyway

this is the first day i’ve actually worn heels to work, and so far, so good.

behold A LIST OF MY PROGRESS

Activity (Number of Times)/Amount of Fallage

Walking to the Bathroom (3)/ZERO

Walking to the Kitchen [with a dish!] (1)/ZERO

Walking to the Office Fridge (2)/ZERO

Walking Outside Briefly [includes steps!] (1)/ZERO

what what! y’all i haven’t even TRIPPED today. that’s like an impeccable safety record!

it helps that i was walking at .00006 miles/hour, but still. it’s better to be cautious than to shake hands with danger– just ask three fingered joe.

of course, i wore different shoes when i was riding stanley, cos my resolution is *walking* in heels, not riding my bike. please, i’m not THAT ambitious (esp. when certain death is involved).

in spite of today’s success, i admit that my progress has been stalled a time or two. for example, i WAS planning on wearing these shoes when i was walking around downtown on valentine’s day. but after i took about ten steps out the door, henri asked, “um… are you sure you’re gonna be ok?” TEN STEPS and his safety flags were raised. gah. so i totally weenied out and wore my boots instead.

but that’s ok! as we work on our resolutions, we’re all bound to stumble (literally! <– i would laugh at my own joke here, like i usually do, but i can’t cos i’m scared!!!), and we just have to get up, put on a brave face (even though everyone is looking at us and thinking, “wow, is that girl DRUNK? oh… she just can’t walk in heels”) and keep on walking forward.

so, that’s my progess report, and now it’s yr turn!

how are YOU guys doing with yr new year’s resolutions?

LINKS

not only does the show “toddlers and tiaras” have the BEST NAME EVER, but it also features cray cray moms and future trainwrecks like little karlee. sure, you could say this show is depressing… but, uh, let’s not forget *ridiculously* entertaining.

squee of the day: shiloh and zahara!! in tiny coats!! with an easter basket!!!

NOTHING can dampen my enthusiasm for “the watchmen” movie… not even this clip featuring the TERRIBLE acting of malin akerman.

  3. I gave up Dr. Peppers and didn’t even make it til the end of January. I have majorly cut back though! :) Does that count?

Good for you in the heel situation. I am not a big heels lover either, so mad props to you!

  4. I’ve had one Diet Coke in 2009. And that was just because I needed to mix some whiskey. It was already gross, after just one month of no Diet Coke before my taste buds fixed themselves.

It did taste good again after there was whiskey in it, though.

  5. Hooray for your High Heel Pants! That is no easy feat (or ‘feet,’ haha). I’m glad to hear haven’t pulled a Naomi Campbell yet. (If you don’t know the incident I’m referring to, YouTube “Naomi Campbell High Heel Runway Fall” for a laugh/ wince.

  6. Wow lady! Those are seriously high! I am wearing heels to work today but they are really comfortable with a 3 inch chunky heel :) . I can’t imagine wearing those shoes (although they are hot).

  7. I wear heels a lot, so if I had your NY resolution, I would be SET. I think they’re really cute shoes, btw. But to the point of your question, meh. I have no intellectual framework for the relationship with my parents. So total failure. I need a better resolution, clearly.

  8. I ran 50km in January. But I’ve had problems with my legs in the last couple of weeks. That and the exams have wiped February out a little but that’s kind of an excuse. I expect to be running again while I’m in Asia!

  9. Wow, I’m kind of proud of you for keeping up your resolution. And in such style! How did your feet feel by the end of the day?
