hi, I'm really really late to comment on this, but that Churchill was so smart! I've often wondered why you'd want a statue of yourself for birds to poo on.

erin (not Erin), I totally did the same thing! I found Westminster Cathedral to be beautiful though and still remember seeing this adorable boy, probably four year olds, praying in front of the Virgin Mary. I wanted to take a picture but that seemed a bit sacrilegious.

I also loved visiting Warwick Castle. Hampton Court Palace was beautiful and had a delightful scone there, but there was so much fun stuff to do at Warwick.

Yay Matt and Papa Gierhart!!! That looks like a fantastic trip and you guys are so cute with your tourism and your bonding. This was a really fun post--I can almost hear you making the commentary.

Also, I am totally going to adopt the Churchill method of debate: "la la la i can't hear you la la la!"

I once ended up at Westminster Cathedral trying to find Westminster Abbey. This was embarassing, but I did get to see my first (and subsequently only, at least so far) nun, which was very exciting. She looked just like the nuns in The Sound of Music!

I'm envious of your father for A) having a cool kid who'll take him around London and B) being in London.

Matt, even from all the way across the Atlantic you can still make me laugh until I cry. I'm glad you and your dad had a good time and that you were able to save him from the Tower of London.
