posh deluxe art appreciation day!

surprise! it’s art appreciation day! art, you are awesome! i love you, and i never take you for granted! if i could give you a target gift card to show you my thanks, i would!

today, i’d like to appreciate a local artist that many of you know, as well as publicly shame an artist i do not (thankfully) know.

first, let’s start with meredith, who is totally waiting to be discovered as the Next Big Thing by hallmark. seriously, look at this girl’s work!

i know it’s a little small, so in case you can’t read it, the bacon says, “bacon loves you, too, m’elle! sizzle sizzle sizzle!”

meredith made this card for erin’s daughter, m’elle, and i consider it the launch of an empire. not only did she create that bacon with the rudimentary tool of microsoft paint, but all of her grammar is CORRECT!!

some of you already know this, but meredith is a grammar queen. and i, for one, am tired of cards with “cutesy” spellings and a lack of respect for commas. not to mention there is a TRAGIC DEARTH of bacon characters in the greeting card business.

and so, meredith, i salute you and yr artistry! i hope to see many more of yr creations in my inbox and/or in stores nationwide.

and now, it’s time to appreciate, and by that i mean ridicule, some really bad art. courtesy of jezebel, ladies and gentlemen, i give you: baby jingles.

well, they’re right about one thing. that is QUITE a handful.

if you’re looking for a way to clean yr keyboard via drool, check out cakespy’s coverage of the grandaddy of fried tasty business: beignets!

apparently some scientists with nothing better to do did a study on music and personality types. i was actually going to blog about this but the entry would have just said, “wait, you’re emo? and you listen to emo music?! EUREKA!”

  1. bwahahah-i saw that monkey baby doll on jezzie today too and i really wanted to buy one to give somebody (anybody?)as a joke…it’s only $27.00 bucks, right? well, times FIVE! some people have way too much money to play with… and speaking of arts stuff – my beth had one of her art pieces included in a new exhibit at the Civilians Project in Washington, DC called “Way Down in New Orleans” an exhibit about Katrina – i just wanted to brag on her for a minute…so that’s all for now. hope you having fun with the figs.

  2. I WANT ALL FUTURE BACON TO BE RENDERED IN MS PAINT. It’s totally the best birthday card EVS. Thank you, Mere!!! I mean, I’m saying it for m’elle. Who also says thank you. Well, actually her exact words were, “mom, look, there’s bacon!”

  4. Yay, Meredith is talented. Thanks for making me feel small Meredith. GOD.

Heavy metal lovers are gentle. I can testify to this. When I lived in Sheffield I frequented establishments that play the rock more openly. I was a bit heavier and heavily bearded. Lots of other bearded men would stand near me during the rest periods between moshing. I think they just wanted to hug.

  5. So where does someone who likes some of it all? Does that make me a well-rounded person?

  6. I just want to say that that article on music was more vague than John McCain’s speech at last weeks Republican National Convention.
