OK – I thought Marfa was some desolate, nothing West Texas town. How did I not know that it was some cultural hot spot? What did I miss? I’ve just lived in Texas my whole life . . .

That would explain why last week when I spoke to you on the phone and you told me you went to Marfa I was like, “What? What the heck’s in Marfa?” you didn’t really say anything. Thanks for not making me feel stupid on the phone and letting me find all this stuff out “on my own”.

BTW -
“Calvary” is where Christ was crucified. “Cavalry” is a bunch of fighting men on horses. The Ghost associated with Christ is altogether more powerful than sad-horse-man.

Hot damn! I still have that friggin’ ring. (I also love her house).

It is good to see that marfa is still alive and prosperous and cray (and filled with 7,000 Texas Border Patrol).

things i will never forget about marfa-5-years-ago:
– dan flavin installation – unassuming, hidden and glowerious
– brown cord jacket #1 (36R) – deal of the century
– marfa city limits sign photo – or how sarah almost got me killed by a car while i took her photo.
