Luling stinks because (I think) there are stockyards just outside the town. If the wind is blowing right, it's really bad.

Blacks in Lockhart is legendary. I was going to mention Guffman, too. The town square picture reminded me of Corky as soon as I saw it.

I absolutely adore Blazing Saddles. I think it might be my fave comedy of all time. Wish I could have been on that trip. (Come to think of it, Waiting for Guffman is probably in my top 5)

This blog has a power that makes me crave foods that I would normally not eat on a regular basis. I can't even remember the last time I had bbq, but I have a feeling I will be going in the near future. So thank you poshdeluxe for always giving me new food cravings, I enjoyed fulfilling the mac and cheese craving last week and look forward to some BBQ. I think I can only handle one restuarant though.

Great post! Although I dont have the time right now to read what you wrote, I just looked at the pictures. But I did want to say that everytime I have been to Luling, it stinks. Literally. I hope that wasn't the case with your trip. Watermelon thump!

Posh, definitely looks like that was a good time. Did anyone talk about all the historic filming that has taken place in Lockhart? Classics like Waiting for Guffman and Grumpier Old Men (second best sequel movie title after Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit). The Lockhart square is a definite gem.

i used to be a vegetarian, and since starting to eat meat again, i cannot get enough. seriously. at various points, i have squared off against large men and been still hungry for meat when they gave up. is that gross? maybe. but i feel a little rebellious, typing it in my vegetarian office building, and that feels GOOD.
