There is nothing better than getting out on the dance floor with a new pair of jazz shoes and putting on a show. I still get such a thrill from each and every performance.

Hey, I was in grad school with Owen. He was fiction and I was poetry in the MFA program at Texas State so I didn’t get to know him that well except for the random lit class. I remember him mentioning those sing-alongs at Alamo but alas, I never attended one. From the looks of your post, I was missing out big time! What a loser am I?! There’s an Alamo Drafthouse by my house in Houston but there are no sing-alongs. I am greatly disappointed.

Sigh..I must admitt I am a bit teary eyed over this entry. The alamo and I began our lives in Austin together…and I am so glad I came back in time to say goodbye…. Oh and it was a really really fun time. I will work on some new dancing faces for the new Ritz Alamo. Can’t be using the Old Alamo dance faces.

sigh…after 7 years of going to the Alamo on an at least weekly basis, it’s just tragic to me that I had to be in Houston when it was time to say goodbye. But I totally poured a little whisky on the floor in honor of the old Alamo haunt. My heart burns there too.

when does the new one open? i wish i could have been there. i’ve heard a few accounts of how wonderful it was, isn’t that funny?

re: your last entry… i have some (very tiny) gifts for you that screamed out to me and could not, i repeat, could not go unbought while i was away. i mean, there are lots of things i can pass up and feel regret later. these things were simply not among them.

a truly fabulous night, i couldn’t imagine a better way to say good-bye to the original alamo… oh, and on the ride home, the radio was playing purple rain, and i swear i thought i was going to cry and i started searching for purple streamers to throw out the window. oh, new ritzy alamo, open soon!
