at the panda research center in chengdu, china, i saw a video of them being born. they kinda just shoot out all of a sudden and start shrieking. because they are largely solitary animals and never see a birth before giving birth, the mothers’ first instinct is to swat their babies away. at the panda center, they have to try to go rescue them.
