saturday night, i went to a birthday party for ba, a friend of ellen’s who is my friend by association. thank goodness for association, cos this party was one of the best parties i have ever been to. seriously. the main reason? david garza, an extremely talented musician out of austin (and now LA, i guess). seth gave me his cd about a year ago (thank you seth!!), and i’ve loved his music ever since.

weeell, ba decided to splurge for his 30th b-day by paying david and his band to play in the living room of�ba’s *posh deluxe* condo. i knew it was going to be a good night when we (seth, josh and me) walked in to the first floor (a crayon sign, made by david, called it “the makeout room”) and discovered serveral guitars and a signed wilco poster. whoah.

soon, david was rawking our souls out. unfortunately, almost all of ba’s laywer friends (from V&E) sequestered themselves in the kitchen– they TOTALLY MISSED OUT. super lame. we, on the other hand,�were dancing up a storm on the wood floor of the living room, singing along and shouting out requests.

david was way cool.

it was so freaking awesome. like a private concert for 10 people.

plus there was birthday cake, and it was very yummy.

at one point, ba joined the band to play “this ones goes out to the one i love” by rem. i just remember jumping around and wondering, “am i in a music video?” it was almost heaven.

apparently, david was in a best buy commercial a while ago about “up and coming” musicians in which he said something like, “i’m david garza.� you don’t know me now, but you will.” josh kept threatening to go up to him and say, “i’m josh katz, you don’t know me now…” or “hey, you’re david garza. i didn’t know you then, but now i do!” ha ha ha… thank gawd he didn’t do that.
